Call to apply for a residency at EKWC, Netherlands

Artists and designers curious to work with clay are welcome to apply.

The EKWC in Oisterwijk, The Netherlands, invites artists and designers of all variety, who have worked with clay before, or have never worked with clay before, to participate in their twelve-week residencies.

Deadline August 31

The EKWC annually welcomes around 60 creative professionals of different disciplines from all over the world — and offers accommodation, studios, workshops, basic-and-advanced equipment and guidance from their experienced advisors and staff.

A work period at the EKWC lasts for twelve weeks — in which time residents can focus on their individual practice, conduct research, experiment, work to realize their plans, and exchange with fellow artists and designers, advisors and staff.

On average, sixteen residents stay at the EKWC at the same time, with a new resident starting, and a resident completing, their residency every week. This means that the composition of the resident group is steadily evolving over a given resident’s twelve-week stay, and that residents have the opportunity to meet many new peers and expand their respective creative networks.

Residents are creative professionals with a diverse range of practices, from all parts of the world, and all stages of experience — from emerging to established artists, from beginners to those well-experienced with ceramic materials and techniques.

For those new to ceramics, the process of getting to know the material will take time and involve a learning curve — is a good thing. Residents are encouraged to be receptive to newness and to ask questions. Their facilities are designed, and their mandate geared, towards helping residents learn, grow, and realize their visions.
