Swatch Art Peace Hotel
The Swatch Art Peace Hotel Guest Artist Program is an artists’ residency program designed to bring together talented artists from around the world to experience a unique cultural environment dedicated to contemporary art.
This program welcomes a broad range of cultures, artistic styles and media. Artists are under no obligations with respect to the organization or nature of the work undertaken during their residency. They are free to engage in individual or joint projects and to work according to their own schedule and plans.
The main focus of the project is on creative exchange. Artists are encouraged to engage in collaborative work and discussion and to interact as a dynamic artistic community so as to enrich the creativity of the group as well as each other’s work.
There are no exhibitions foreseen – every artist is asked to leave "a trace" of his stay to be shown in the Virtual Museum. A trace is typically a piece of art created by the artist during his or her stay; it is up to the artist to determine what form such a trace will take. The traces will become part of the Swatch Art Peace Hotel Collection and will be presented to the public in the Virtual Museum.
Eight studios are designed so that artists have a working space at their disposal which is separate from their living quarters; ten incorporate the workshop into the living space. The type of activity and the needs of the artists determine the type of housing to be awarded. Workshop space can also be shared. The studios are assigned according to need and availability for a period ranging from one to six months.
Free accomodation incl. breakfast and housekeeping service twice a week; all other daily expenses, material, interior etc. on own account. No coverage of any expenses of visitors, generally no hosting of family or friends.
A library, a meeting room and several common workshops. High speed /wireless Internet access is provided. A Mac, PC and printer / copier are also available.
