Orbital Residency

Orbital Residency

Description

Orbital Residency will make it possible to both receive artists from other contexts and propose local artists for international residencies in Portugal, Cuba, Colombia, Mexico, Ireland, Belgium, Morocco or India.

Programmed activities include:

  • Talks between artists, collectors and cultural agents from Santander and Cantabria (curators, art centre directors and mediators).
  • Studio visits and meetings with invited collectors and curators from other parts of Spain or Europe.
  • Visits to exhibitions, art centers and other sites of interest in Cantabria and nearby cities like Bilbao o Madrid.
  • Presentations of the invited artist’s work at the end of their residency, in exhibition spaces and different collaborating centres.
  • The residency has a team of professionals with wide experience in different areas of contemporary art, both national and international, that will make effective the exchange between invited artists and the cultural and artistic community, both local and national.

Residing artists will be given the information and the logistics necessary to relate to the population, the trades and the cultural context in which they are invited to develop their artistic practice.

The residency will take place twice a year, during the months of March and November. During one month the residing artists will use their stay to develop a project and learn about and interact with the local and national context (short trips to other regions are included as well).

Outcome

The programme will release in book format an overview of the projects and processes that took place during the residency. It will also produce an artist’s multiple, which is to serve as a gift to supporting collaborators and associates.

Accommodation Information

The programme offers studio space and accommodation.
