Description
Kunstwerk Kolderveen facilitates artistic production by offering a space and tools for artists to produce artworks at an affordable price and stay over for a two month residency. Artists and curators can stay can apply, either for the production of an artwork or for research.
Outcome
Incoming artist residents can be asked to share thoughts on their production with local artists in events organized in the residency. From time to time Kunstwerk Kolderveen will open itself up as an exhibition space presenting work produced there in combination with invited artists.
Studio Information
Shared large studio of 100 sqm with daylight, 6 meters high.
Accommodation Information
60 sqm private apartment bedroom, kitchen, toilet, parking place, two bikes and internet. Ideal for a couple and possibly a small child. Animals allowed. No access for wheelchairs.
Technical Information
Depending on your plans, the organisers can prepare the studio with wood working equipment, metal working, 3D printing, computers to work on VR, simulation and animation, or a small painting lab for encaustic painting. They will do this in consultation with you. In principle the studio is not manned by any technicians. If you require assistance or craft knowledge this is possible to be arrange for an extra fee and depending on availability of the technicians.
Location
Located in a rural landscape at the border between the province of Overijssel and Drenthe, Kolderveen is a village of just over two hundred people. Turn right as you leave the residency and you end up amongst the reed and the migratory birds in the watery landscape of De Weerribben-Wieden National Park. Turn right and you head towards the ancient dolmen and forest of the Holtingerveld. The summer residency is intended as a production residency for artists to have space to work in this inspiring environment. It is 10 minutes away by bus from the train station of Meppel (the closest city). The tourist destination of Giethorn is 7 km away, and Zwolle 20 minutes by train.
