Kham: Art Residency for Cultural Exchange
Kham is an organization that promotes and empowers the rich history and culture of the Roma people, creates opportunities for non-formal education, meetings and dialogs, in order to change and challenge old stereotypes that were popularized in Europe for centuries. The world of Roma is colorful, full of love and respect for the family and traditions. To make sure that this culture will not be forgotten or excluded we need to stand again any kind of discrimination, never stop learning and analyzing nowadays issues of our society.
Kham offers an Artist Residency Program in a resort town in Koszalin County, in north-western Poland.
The Artist Residency Kham is a multi-disciplinary residency that was build with the goal of creating a safe space for musicians, performers, philosophers, writers, painters and other artists with different cultural background. The atmosphere and main values of this project is to provide an ideal setting to focus on creative work. Accepted artists will have the chance to create and collaborate with each other, considering this is the main goal of this residency to meet at the common ground. Since we are all different, our uniqueness is our power, there is no need to change it. While getting to know each other, sharing and explaining our differences we also have time and space to celebrate how much we have in common.
The Artist Residency Program provides each resident with:
• Up to one month in residence at Kham in Mielno, Poland
• A fully equipped private rooms with bathroom and common kitchen
• A common terrace for deep workflow in a safe space, open for inspiring talks and discussions, fresh air and the wind from the sea that help to relax from the city chaos
• Safe environment for people with different ethnic origins, religion, believes, disabilities and preferences.
Accepted artists can create and collaborate with each other, considering this is the main goal of this residency to meet at the common ground.
