Katapult
Katapult is Berlin’s newest independent space for training, creation and performance in contemporary performance art, with a focus on circus and dance. Run by artists, for artists, the 200 sqm hall in the edge of Berlin is available for early-stage creation, residencies and showings for artists across all contemporary performance disciplines at affordable rates.
The goal is to push the boundaries of contemporary performance through interdisciplinary collaboration, so they highly encourage applicants to demonstrate how they work with others, be it performance artists, musicians, technicians, directors, outside eyes, or something else. They offer possibilities of shared and private residency times. During the creation period residents have full access to Katapult during day and night, although it is not possible to sleep on site.
The artists are highly encouraged to showcase their outcome at the end of the residency. By doing so, the artists have the chance to receive feedback from the audience and test their work-in-progress.
Katapult offers one tranings space of 200sqm with a semi-sprung dance floor with Harlequin dance carpet. The ceiling height is approximately 6m at the lowest point (no aerial rigging possible), and 9m+ at the highest point. Crash mats are available and heating in the cold period of the year is provided.
Here you can read more about the project from Ana Jordão, developed in the residency and supported by i-Portunus, EU Mobility Scheme for artists and cultural professionals.
Accomodation is not included in the residency programme, but Katapult can help with finding an accomodation in town.
