Open Call: TRACTOR Residency Summer - Autumn 2021

TRACTOR is an international artist-in-residence programme offered by D’CLINIC studios; an independent project space by artists to support and empower artists. TRACTOR is for all the creative who either wish to change their environment for a couple of weeks and find inspiration in new surroundings or simply need undisturbed time to develop or finish up a body of work. For those who are longing for diversity in the studio, want to escape the day-by-day routine or need some extra encouragement to approach new directions in their work.

As a TRACTOR guest, artists will have uninterrupted, self-directed work time, with a 24/7 studio access. TRACTOR encourages residents to explore, step out of their comfort zone, and experiment with different techniques or modes of production. If artists need any help with project idea, the orgnization is ready to assist.

Artists also have the option to choose and work with any of the local (art) institutions and/or places.

Duration of residency: 1 to 4 weeks, between July and October

Residency period: 5 July - 31 October 2021

Accommodation (included in the program fee):

  • Furnished, shared house with 2 single bedrooms and 1 shared bedroom for creative duos and/or collectives
  • a shared kitchen, bathroom, and a cosy yard
  • the provided studios are situated within the same building

D’CLINIC residency house is only about 15min walk from the city centre of Zalaegerszeg.

Disciplines, work equipment and assistance

Emerging as well as established, and mid-career professionals working in any artistic discipline (visual art, performing arts, literature, art theory, music, dance… ) are welcome to apply

We accept applications from individual artists as well as creative duos and/or artists groups.

Studio / Workspace

About 100sqm, high ceiling & good light of space for creative engagement, and plenty of wall space to work on

The space is divided into 2 parts: a smaller 12sqm enclosed studio and a larger “open” studio space; this, however, is flexible and can be organised into smaller individual units – depending on the specific needs of individual artists. (the space is shared by max three artists

The studio is equipped with wifi, water, electricity, toilet. For writers and/or individuals who mostly work with a computer (or other dry media) we can offer a single, 30sqm live/work studio room. Open 24/7 and all along their stay artists are free to organise their time at D’CLINIC. In specific cases, organizers can provide/arrange access to additional facilities for production upon request (see: materials & equipment on the website). If no special agreements are made the studio stays modestly arranged with basic equipment (tables, chairs, basic tools & leftover materials). Outdoors activities also possible.

Fees and support: €300 per week/person. Artists can choose the option to donate one of their works, produced during the residency to D’CLINIC collection and a 15% discount on the residency fee in exchange will be granted (this opportunity applies to all artistic disciplines).

Expectations towards the artist: Artists who stay three or more weeks are offered the opportunity to show their work within a project-exhibition at the end of the residency.

Optional: There is also a possibility to show/share work through open studio events, reading, screening, workshop, lecture, critique evening, etc.

In consultation with the staff, artists will receive support for organizing the event.

  • short description of your practice / what medium do you work in, and what methods do you usually use (max. 800 characters)
  • briefly outline how you plan to use the time and studio space offered (max. 1500 characters)
