Tomelilla art exhibition hall is publicly governed. It is one of the most famous art exhibition halls in Skåne with its popular exhibitions. They display exhibitions all year round. The ambition is for visitors to meet different art forms, styles, techniques and expressions. Both contemporary and traditional art are exhibited. Parallel to the exhibitions there is an educational reach-out program for children and young people, with both guided tours and workshops. Since the ambition is to to spread and increase knowledge of contemporary art, all exhibitions are free for the public.
Decisions concerning the residency program will be taken by the board of Tomelilla Culture and Recreation.

The residency program will happen bi-annually and run for 4-6 weeks. The program is applicable for international artists working within sculpture, painting, performance, installation, video and textile. They are looking for artists that are interested in the social process of art making.

Outcome

The aim and hope from the organizers is a collaboration between the artist and locals, residents as well as local artists. The residency is open to artists who work on the professional art scene and aim for artistic work in connection with the geographical location. They should be well-established and should have documented experience from the international art scene. The artist should be open to interaction with the local residents and local art. Workshops, lectures and public participation constitute activities that the artist should be able to offer at the time of residence. The organizers want to create an opportunity for artistic exhange and a creative meeting space.

Studio Information

Studio space depending on the need of the artist will be provided.

Accommodation Information

Accomodation in the vicinity of Tomelilla Konsthall and the railway station is provided. The specific accomodation might vary and it will be selected in collaboration with the artist. The accomodation will be B&B standard.

Technical Information

Library, art school and art exhibition hall are located in the same building in vicinity of the train station.

Location

Tomelilla is a small village of 13000 inhabitants situated in the Southern part of Sweden. The region is known for its rich art scene and beautiful rural landscape.
