Monitoring, promotion and diffusion of the processes of residence, curatorial guidance. Invitation letters will be sent to those selected.

Paid by artist:

USD$ 350 per person (3weeks), USD$ 450 (1 month) and USD$800 (2 months). Includes: accommodation, shared dorms between 2 people, WiFi, dining room, bathroom, kitchen, workshop and studio for research, exhibition studio. Not included: transportation costs to and from the place of residence, travel, breakfast, lunch, dinner, materials.

No Lugar - Arte Contemporáneo is a project that hybridizes contemporary artistic production with curatorial practice in Quito, Ecuador since 2010. It is active as both an artistic residences program and an exhibition space. The main objective of No Lugar is to propose artistic, non-hierarchical and decentralized exchanges based on the value of difference and horizontal exchange between a constellation of locally rooted cultural agents connected at a global level. The No Place network encompasses artists and cultural actors from Mexico, El Salvador, Ecuador, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, the United States, Spain, New Zealand, France, Belgium, Peru, Japan and Denmark.

At the residency, both artists and curators have the opportunity to develop an intensive process of production, which may take the form of exhibition, open studio, workshop or presentation of portfolios. They mostly look for proposals that reflect on the city, architecture and how to inhabit the spaces from the body and subjectivity. In the same way they seek that the participating artists and curators in the residence can have a rewarding experience with the agents of the local scene according to their interests.

Studio Information

They have workshop spaces that function as production spaces. In case the artist needs a larger space, the organization is in charge of managing that space.

Technical Information

They have a library, recycled materials and a large bank and contacts with artists and curators in order to generate collaborative experiences and future work networks. Residents will have a schedule of specific activities where specific tours, presentation of portfolios, conferences, etc. are included.

Location

The workshops of the residence are located in the historical center of Quito, Ecuador. You can enjoy the view of the colonial center and its architecture, in addition the residence is located in the first Art Decó district of Quito, in which you find modern architectural proposals and Make visible a specific period of the city.
