As a residential art center Künstlerhäuser Worpswede offers professional artists and scholars of respective disciplines a place to develop their work, to learn, to meet and cooperate with other fellows in an international context. The Künstlerhäuser Worpswede supports visiting artists and scholars not only by providing grants but also by organising public events. It was the first residential center for artists in Germany. Since 1971 about 400 artists and fellows from about 35 countries have been guests of the Künstlerhäuser Worpswede creating an intercultural, inter-disciplinary meeting point and working in different fields and media.
