Description

The Iris Art Centre is a platform for artistic education and coaching of artists, students and creatives of all ages and abilities. The workshops and residencies provide guidance and encouragement to enhance development of personal artistic voice. The Centre organizes summer art workshops and artist residencies. At the Iris Art Centre, groups are small (2-8), the environment is quiet, and all programs are full-board, so that artists can work intensively on developing new projects. The Iris Art Centre is run by qualified teaching artists, that are specialized in artistic coaching to artists of all levels and abilites.

The Iris Artist Residency offers artists a concentrated work period (1-6 weeks) in a quiet rural area in Greece. One hour of daily artistic coaching (monday thru friday) is included. The focus of the residency programme is on talent development: the development of artistic potential.

Outcome

The Iris Artist Residency provides opportunities for artists, students and creatives to research and develop their artistic practices. At the end of the residency a presentation of the new work can be organised in an Athenian gallery, so that artists can make contacts with the Greek artistic community. This is optional.

The Residency is situated on a large estate in the midst of olive groves and vineyards near the village of Afidnes at a 30 minute driving distance from the center of Athens. The natural atmosphere of peace and silence give ample opportunity for concentrated work.
