Hafnarborg
The Hafnarfjörður Centre of Culture and Fine Art runs an Artist in Residence program on the top floor of the museum at Strandgata 34, 220 Hafnarfjordur, which is located in the centre of town. The premises are mainly intended for foreign artists.
The Hafnarborg guest apartment is 80 square meters and consists of a one bedroom flat with a studio, a fully equipped kitchen with refrigerator, stove, oven, coffee machine and toaster and a bathroom with shower, washing machine and dryer. The work area is in the larger of two living rooms. Bed sheets and towels are provided for guests. Smoking is not allowed in the apartment.
Hafnarfjördur is a fishing town and port with a population of over 25.000. The town is 10 km south of Reykjavík at the edge of a lava field. There are frequent buses to Reykjavík, the trip taking about 20 minutes. The museum building is on the main street in Hafnarfjörður, close to shops, banks, cinema, restaurants, cafés, the library, swimming pools, etc.
