Application Fee: $50. Travel cost, travel and accident insurance and all material costs are the responsibility of the applicant.

Each application must include:

  • Completed application form
  • Resume
  • Two letters of reference
  • 10 work samples on a CD, labeled with the applicant’s name
  • Work reference sheet, explaining work samples

Baer Art Center provides visual artists and architects with the opportunity to deepen and develop their creative spirit in a selective group of internationally diverse and professionally established individuals. The art center also offers its residents the unique experience of remoteness, seclusion and sublime nature within a modern society. the centre gives foreign and domestic architects and visual artists an opportunity to share insights, ideas and different cultural experiences. It acts as a temporary residential base for individuals that seek out a unique work environment and a place of inspiration.

Studio Information

The rustic spaces around the farm can be utilized as work areas for artists/architects that wish to work on outdoor sculptural, environmental or installation projects.

Accommodation Information

Baer Art Center is located in a rural and quiet setting. It offers its residents free living and studio accommodations including three meals per day, use of all artist equipment and facilities, a common computer area with Internet access and one excursion per week. Lines and towels are provided along with access to laundry facilities.

Location

Baer Art Center is located on a beautiful seaside farm in Northwestern Iceland, approximately 400km (4 hour drive) from the capital, Reykjavik. It's setting on the east coast of Skagafjördur, a large fjord facing the Arctic Circle, is quite unique with its access to the ocean, a freshwater lake, extensive birdlife, outdoor activities and Icelandic farm life.
