PAR - International Residency Program
PAR Art Residency Program was created in 2024 by Johanna Borchardt, a performance artist interested in crafting an international network of performance professionals. The aim of the program is to encourage international and local artists to enjoy a community based and highly personalized experience with tutoring sessions, open studios and cultural visits in the local scene.
The PAR Art Residency program is open to international artists and researchers of all disciplines. The organisers especially encourage those who are enthusiastic about exploring a performative approach in their current work. During their month-long stay, residents will immerse themselves in the cultural scene of Buenos Aires, where they will develop their projects while engaging in meaningful dialogue with tutors and specialized artists. By having access to a shared workspace, artists will have the opportunity to develop site-specific works that will be presented in a final Open Studio with the rest of their peers. PAR Art Residency focuses on performative experimentation through monitoring its residents with tutors who work on different aspects of the discipline.
The residency offers:
- Fully furnished accommodation located near cultural landmarks and the PAR workshops
- Shared studio space with other residents
- A full immersion into the Buenos Aires contemporary and artistic scene
- Professional one on one tutoring and follow up with their team
- A chance to showcase your work and network with the local community in the Open Studios
Artists will be provided with a studio space as well as regular tutoring sessions and they will have a chance to display processes or full productions during an Open Studio with artists, curators, professionals from the local scene.
They have 3 studios where our residents can work depending on the amount of residents per session:
- Located in the Villa Crespo neighborhood, Espacio A is a collective workshop composed of three friends and colleagues who shaped this place from the need to meet up personally and artistically. By searching, experimenting and playing they find a way to inhabit their work and artistic expressions. By thinking of Espacio A as a physical space, they allow it to mutate as a workshop-studio/studio-workshop and adopt the shape that each of the members need in their careers as visual artists, graphic designers and creative directors.
- Yerua is an interdisciplinary artistic production platform located in the Paternal neighborhood.
This studio has two large floors where ten artists from the contemporary Buenos Aires scene share time, space, and in which artistic processes are highlighted by partaking in open studios, hallway conversations and meaningful exchanges in the lounge, the coffee shop or during the open studios and activities Yerua participates in. - Casa Belgrado is the creation of a group of Latin American cultural managers and artists from different disciplines. A space dedicated to research and experimentation of contemporary practices linked to the performing arts, visual arts and their possible intersections with sound, audiovisual and multimedia art. Belgrado has existed since 2013 in the Balvanera neighborhood, but over time the project has mutated in its conception and has expanded its horizons. In 2015, it launched its international artistic residency and at the end of 2019 it extended to “La Vitrina”, an old furniture store located on the ground floor of the house. Nowadays it is a vibrant hub for artists, performers and many actors of the local and international arts scene.
They have 2 different accommodations depending on the number of residents. These are the homes of artists that can provide a single private room with shared facilities (bathroom, kitchen, common areas)
- CASA HACHE - This unique and creative flat located in the Palermo neigborhood is the perfect place to walk around Buenos Aires while enjoying its amicable surroundings, bursting coffee shops, and its variety of bars and stores. One can easily walk from the apartment to Casa A Studio, and it is also a short bus ride away from Yerua and Casa Belgrado studios. The accomodation offers three different private rooms for the artists, which will make your stay very entertaining as you can share some quality time with the other residents.
- CASA JOTA - This quiet and spacious apartment has great natural light and mutiple amenities. Casa Jota is prepared to receive three international residents to share a unique experience in the residential Colegiales neighborhood. Casa Jota is located within walking distance of Yerua Studio and has several public transport alternatives that leave you right in the doorstep of Espacio A and Casa Belgrado.
All three studios have very similar characteristics and will allow residents to develop their own projects and carry out independent and collective research. Depending on the number of residents per session they can be placed together all in one studio or distributed amongst the three.
