Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity
Founded in 1933, Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity is a learning organization built upon a legacy of excellence in artistic and creative development. What started as a single course in drama has grown to become the global organization leading in arts, culture, and creativity across dozens of disciplines. From their home in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity aims to inspire everyone who attends the campus – artists, leaders, and thinkers – to unleash their creative potential. Programming supports the commissioning and creation of new work by individual artists and arts collectives, and provides resources for collaboration and applied research. The Centre also partners with national and international arts institutions to bring art created in Banff to stages and concert halls around the world.
Participants in residency programs and most workshops stay at Banff Centre for the duration of their program. The residential aspect of the programs means you can take part in the Centre's larger artistic community while the organizers take care of day-to-day concerns like cooking and cleaning.
Rooms have all the amenities of a hotel, furnishings, work desk and chair, bath and/or shower, towels, bedding, phone, radio/alarm clocks, housekeeping services, and expansive windows that allow participants to enjoy the full beauty of Banff Centre’s natural setting. Over 100 rooms are available in two residence halls. Wireless internet is available throughout the campus.
The Centre equips with Resources and Facilities/Studio Resources (for different genres such as music & sound, media & visual art and theatre arts)/Theatres and Performance Spaces/Dining Facilities.
Banff Centre's mountainside campus is located in Banff National Park in the Rocky Mountains of Western Canada. The Town of Banff and Banff Centre are only 90 minutes from Calgary International Airport and easily accessible by rental car, the Banff Airporter, ROAM Transit, or the Brewster Banff Airport Express.
